Erosion Control Mesh is the ideal solution for hillside and embankment erosion control. This mesh is made to give a place for the soil and vegetation roots to take hold. The faster that vegetation can grow the better as erosion control blankets serve as a structure for roots can anchor too.

This erosion mat is made of a lightweight nylon monofilament. The design of the structure is mostly open space, with a 90%+ open matrix to enable grass and vegetation to work through the mesh and strengthen the soil.
The matrix mesh fabric is laid down on the hillside and can be filled with soil and seeded to encourage quick root development. This turf reinforcement mat by Enka is UV stabilized enabling it to withstand the elements and the sun.

Erosion Control Mesh is great for applications like channels, slopes, sod underlayment, and gullies.

Erosion Control - The Best Choices For Conserving Soil

Whether building up, tearing down, altering, or modifying structures on property, soil erosion control must play an important role to improve the land as well as investments in different practices.

Erosion control is extremely important to maintain the health of local as well as worldwide waterways. Applying the right control can improve crop yields, reduce drainage costs, keep nutrients thriving, while keeping down hazards caused by eroding soil.

Why Soil Erosion Should Be Controlled

You might not know that soil erosion is actually quite natural when particles in the soil are moved by the wind and water or moved to another area. When erosion happens naturally, the soil is relocated at the same rate as it was created so the environment is safe and not harmed. Unfortunately, caused by development and agricultural practices, the erosion rate climbs creating harmful affects to natural lands as well as for the people living there.

The Ocean County Soil Conservation District works nonstop to control soil erosion by enforcing routines on construction sites, along the shorelines, and other locations throughout Ocean County.

Using the right techniques, stormwater runoff will not contaminate the area and keep the Barnegat Bay healthier while maintaining its beauty. Barnegat Bay is along the coast of Ocean County, New Jersey which is approximately 42 miles long. It's separated from the Atlantic Ocean by the Long Island Beach State Park as well as north of the long Island Beach.

Keeping soil erosion under control will keep soil off city streets, prevent the need for dredging lakes and rivers, and stop harmful algae and weeds from growing. It will provide a healthier environment for all.

How To Control Soil Erosion

The best way to control erosion is planting vegetation. The roots will grip the soil and effectively stop excessive movement of the soil throughout the ground. Imagine two flower pots one filled with only soil and the other filled with a plant that has developed roots from growing for some time. If you flip the pots over, the pot with only soil will spill out everywhere. The pot with a plant could lose some soil but most of the soil will remain in the roots and stay in place.

The most utilized option on construction sites for erosion control is a silt fence. A silt fence is a fabric barrier installed along a hill that will capture stormwater carrying soil. The fence is installed several inches into the ground to prevent erosion until a lawn has been installed.

Please note, if the silt fence is not installed properly, stormwater will easily pass through the fence. In turn, the stormwater will flow to a river, stream, or lake contaminating the water. It's unhealthy for fish and other aquatic animals.

Another excellent solution for controlling erosion is matting. For proper erosion control, place the matting or netting directly on top of the soil and fasten it. The material will stay in the location until vegetation starts to grow through and will not harm the environment.

Erosion mats offer strength and will cover the entire area needed to protect the surroundings from any runoff or erosion.

There are several methods used by construction companies to protect the environment while abiding by rules and regulations that have established.
