The backflow preventer insulated cover is a durable and accessible solution made in the USA. With a lift-off design, it provides easy access for maintenance and includes an ASSE Standard 1060 compliant drain flap for added safety. To protect against freezing temperatures, the Chromalox Heat Cable #30, which offers 90W of heat, is recommended. This cover is constructed from marine-grade aluminum, insulated with polyisocyanurate foam, and reinforced with a glass fiber facer on both sides, ensuring it is both sturdy and resistant to vandalism.

How to Size a Backflow Enclosure

Start by measuring the full installed assembly — including the backflow preventer, shutoff valves, test cocks, strainers, and any unions. That total measurement is your minimum inside clearance need. Then add at least 6 inches on each dimension so technicians can reach test cocks and perform annual testing without having to remove the enclosure.
