What Is a Forklift Broom?

A forklift broom is a push broom attachment that mounts directly to a forklift's forks, transforming the lift truck into a powered sweeping machine. Instead of deploying manual labor or expensive rotary sweeper equipment, operators can sweep large areas while performing normal forklift duties — the broom pushes debris ahead of the forks as the truck moves.

How a Forklift Broom Works

Unlike rotary sweepers that spin bristles at high speed and kick up dust and debris, forklift push brooms work on a simple push principle: the broom housing contacts the floor surface and the forklift drives forward, pushing all debris ahead of the bristles. This means:

• No flying debris — materials stay in front of the bristles, not airborne
• No dust cloud — push action doesn't fling fine particles into the air
• No motor or hydraulics needed — purely mechanical, no attachments to the forklift's hydraulic system
• No moving parts — extremely low maintenance, nothing to break

The broom mounts to the forklift forks using a hook-and-chain system (ValuSweep and Pro Series) or a fork hitch adapter (Mega Series). The operator simply drives the loaded broom across the floor to sweep it clean, then collects the debris pile at a corner or drain.

Select your forklift broom width based on your facility's aisle width and the size of the area you need to sweep:

• 48" (ValuSweep VSB-048): Tight warehouse aisles, narrow dock areas, shop floors with close racking
• 60" (ValuSweep VSB-060, Pro SPB-600, Mega SMB-600): Standard warehouse aisles, loading docks, medium outdoor areas

A wider broom covers more area per pass but requires more clearance — confirm your narrowest aisle width before ordering.

The only regular maintenance tasks are:

1. Rotate and reverse brush sections — periodically swap sections end-for-end within the housing to equalize wear and extend bristle life
