Step 1: Measure Your Space
Walk the venue with a measuring tape or laser rangefinder before ordering anything. Document:
- Overall dimensions — length and width of the entire area to be covered. For rectangular spaces, this is straightforward. For irregular shapes (L-shapes, around obstacles), sketch the layout and break it into rectangles.
- Obstructions — support columns, drainage grates, fixed equipment, and anything else that panels need to route around. Note positions and dimensions.
- Access points — where can pallets be delivered? Where are the entry/exit points that will need ramps?

- Multiple access points: Distribute pallets around the perimeter rather than staging everything at a single entry. For a stadium field, use each tunnel. For an outdoor event, stage at 3–4 perimeter points.
- Match pallet placement to build zones: Place HD pallets near the stage build zone and vehicle lanes. LD pallets near the general audience sections.
- Build outward from staging points: Crews start at their assigned staging point and build inward/outward. Cam-lock systems allow omnidirectional build, so crews don’t need to work in sequence.
- Plan the meeting lines: Where two crews building from different directions will meet. Make sure these aren’t in the middle of a high-traffic zone during install.
